Well, if you talk to a scent manufacturer who uses glass bottles, they will no doubt tell you that glass is better. On the other hand, if you talk with a scent manufacturer who uses plastic bottles, they will no doubt tell you plastic is better. So how do you decide if it really makes a difference?
We cannot speak for other scent manufacturers, but we can tell you our feelings on the matter: We put-up our urine scents in amber glass bottles, to maintain maximum freshness, to keep them at full strength, and to maintain the highest quality level (even though amber glass costs more). Glass has the best vapor-barrier and will not react with the product. Some companies use plastic bottles that imitate the glass look and some use bottles that just look like plain plastic.
Although different plastics have various characteristics, some plastics permit a large amount of leaching to take place. Parts of the product may leach out and parts of the atmosphere may leach in through the plastic – which could result in the product changing. Everybody knows amber glass is considered the most premium packaging for fresh natural liquid products, such as beer – because the amber glass has the best vapor barrier, will not react with the contents, and blocks the light.
Some scent manufacturers use inexpensive plastic bottles for their attractor scents. Some of the plastic bottles try to imitate the appearance of amber glass. Even though plastic bottles may be cheaper and lighter to ship, Wildlife® uses genuine amber glass bottles. Wildlife® feels that top quality products should be put-up in nothing less than genuine amber glass bottles.
